Impregnated Carbons

Specially treated carbons for vapour phase applications

The General Carbon Corporation makes several different grades of impregnated activated carbon for those special applications where either standard non-treated carbon does not work or where activated carbon’s adsorptive capacity can be greatly enhanced through impregnation.

  • GC IPH

The desulphurisation of gases and the removal of all acidic contaminants such as hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen chloride and mercaptans.

  • GC IPI

The removal of hydrogen sulfide and all other acidic contaminants.

  • GC IPA

    The removal of ammonia.

  • GC-II

The removal of radioactive methyl iodide from nuclear fission products.

  • GC-IPP

    The removal of formaldehyde.

  • GC-IT

The removal of radiation in nuclear testing.

  • GC IPSp or GC IPSg

Caution!

Wet activated carbon removes oxygen from air causing a severe hazard to workers inside carbon vessels. Confined space/low oxygen procedures should be put in place before any entry is made. Such procedures should comply with all applicable local, state and federal guidelines.
